Tips for Mathematics preparation

Mathematics is an important paper that needs a lot of understanding of the subject. The more you solve and work out sums the better it is. Here are some tips which you can use to Crack your Competitive exam -

Know how to derive a formula –

If a student knows how to derive a formula that he/she uses to solve many other problems, it's definite that he will not forget the formula. So try to understand how the formula is derived, and then the working of it can also be easier.

Minimize by hearting a formula –

Just as I had previously mentioned, you must derive the formula to understand it better. Do not mug up the formulas as there will be a lot of formulas to remember and the student may make small mistakes like writing a '+' instead of a '-' and get the answer completely wrong.

Focus on Hierarchy while studying –

Students must not focus on just easy questions but also difficult ones. If we can classify the difficulty from level 0 – level 3,

Level 0 would be NCERT Syllabus

Level 1 would be K-CET Syllabus

Level 2 would be JEE Main

Level 3 would be JEE Main Advance

Students must solve all the questions of different complexities, and prepare according to the exam they're aspiring to crack.

Do not Attempt Mock papers until you know the subject fully –

There are many questions in the competitive exams that have concepts of both the 11th and 12th syllabus merged into a single question. In such situations, a student who is in 11th grade cannot generally solve the problem.

Yet another mistake students make before learning all the concepts of the exam is that they directly attempt the mock tests, get bad scores and then get discouraged and give up.

Instead, if the student prepares properly and understands most of the concepts and chapters, he can give the mock test and have a fair chance of scoring well.

Be clear of your vision and prepare accordingly -

Students must know what their goal and ultimate vision are i.e.; which exam do they want to concentrate on and clear. For example- If a student wants to crack JEE Main , it is trivial that he is solving questions of K-CET.

As mentioned above, different exams have different levels of complexities of questions and a student needs to prepare and study accordingly.

Know the exam before you attempt the exam -

Do not write the exams for namesake or because your friends are writing them. Do it for yourself and know the level of difficulty of the paper. Keep In mind or find out about –

The Institutes you want to join,

The cut-offs for those colleges,

Their placements,

And other essential criteria.

Do not overdo a question in the paper -

It is important to manage your time in the exam. If you cannot solve a problem within 2 minutes, just move on to the next one. Make sure you don’t miss out on the important and known questions
